The progress of settlement along the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Companv’s lino is marching on. Largo tracts of country that not long sinoo were practically an i unknown land 1 have been settled upon and is rapidly showing signs of settlement and improvement. The virgin bush is disappearing, and in place pf it are homesteads of numerous settlers. The next blook of tlie Railway Company’s land that will be submitted to the public comprises soma four thousand acres adjacent fco . station'at Paraparaumu, subdivided into blocks of from 40 acres to 130 acies. The quality of the soil is said to be the very best, and the bush comprises a considerable quantity of valuable red pine suitable for sawmilling purposes. The proximity of this land to Wellington, aud its position sheltered by the Tararua ranges from the southerly winds prevailing elsewhere, in winter it is specially adapted for stock raising, lhe conditions for this sale are the same as have proved eo acceptable to buyers at tho Previous sales, viz., ten per cent, cash and the the balance in seven years at five per cent interest. Messrs T. Kennedy Macdonald and Company, the auctioneers, have enqniries for ? plans from all parts of the Colony proving that there are yet numbers of settlers willing to take up land ou reasonable conditions.
