THORNDON LICENSING COMMITTEE.

The annual meeting of tho Thorndon Licensing Committee was held in the City Council Chambers on Tuesday. There were present —Messrs C. T. Richardson (Chairman), J. E. Hayes, W. Tmney, and M. Murdock. Leave of absence for three months was granted to Mr W. F. Parsons, a member of the Committee, who had gone on a visit to England. Applications for renewal with extension to 11 o'clock were granted as fill, low : Herbert J. Williams, Metropolitan Hotel; C. H. Gillespie,-Shepherds’ Arms Hotel ; John Brady, Thistle Hotel; Thomas Hodgins, Shamrock Hotel; John Murphy, Railway >*ot 1 ; A. E. Hayward, Princess Hotel ; Patrick- Casey, Wellington Hotel ; G. w. Chandler, Provincial Hotel. An application was made by Robert Freeman for a renewal of the license of the Royal Hotel. Inspector Thomson stated that the applicant had only recently complied with the Committee’s instructions to provide proper hro escapes. 'he application was granted. An application by Thomas Lang, (ion for a new license for the Karori Hotel was granted. The Committee also gr nted Mr Laugdon a permanent transrer in order lo enable biin to carry on the business of the hotel till the end of the licensing year. An extension to 11 o’clock was granted in both eases. The Clerk (Mr J. Ames) was instructed to obtain a copy of Mr C. 13. Morison’B treatise on the Licensing Acts of ISBI and ISS2.
