THE CASH OF MAJOR GARNER.
LIBEL ACTION THREATENED. (united press association.) Napier, April 14. Major Garner announces his intention of proceeding for libel against the Wellington Post and the Press Association for a paragraph published by the former, and tele-, graphed through the colony by the latter, to the effect that the Defence Minister, after inquiry, had determined to dismiss Major Garner, one of the alleged grounds being assault by him on a Volunteer in uniform. He denies that there was an inquiry into, this charge, and states that the first he heard of the affairs was the paragraph.in question. He was never asked for any explanation, although the regulations provide for inquiries into all such charges.
