Wholesale Prices. FARSI' AND DAIRY PRODUCE. £ s. d. £ 8. d.
The Customs duties collected at the port of Wellington for the week ending on Saturday amounted to 1A5,553 2s lOd. Beer duty, 1,139 8s Bd. Messrs George Thomas and Co. duce prices as follow: —“The week s business has not produced any material alterations in either feeding grain or breadstuffs, and prices, although unsteady and liable to ehange at any moment, are at present remaining at same •figures as when quoting last week. Hour (old grist) has quiet demand at 1/11 for stone and V,ll 10s to Lll 15s for roller process; bran, I A; pollard, L 4 10s to L 5; fowls’ wheat, whole 4s 3d, broken 3s 9d to 4s ; wheatmeal, ill; old oats, 2s to 2s Id; new do, prime samples, 2s 2d to 2s 3d ; oatmeal, ill to ill 10s ; oaten chaff, sheaves L 4to L 4 10s; straw do. L 3 to L3los ; maize, 3s 6d to 3s9d; barley, scarce, 2s lid to 3s ; peas, 3s 6d ; beans, 3s 9d to 4s ; prime potatoes, flukey, L 4; per* wents, L 3 10s to L 4; onions, L O to LU, anything but very prime samples being quite unsaleable ; hams and bacon, Becond-class lots from 2d per lb, factory cure 6d to 7d ; prime cheese, 5d to bd ; honey, 4 id; lard, 4d ; Nelson hops, 4£d ; eggs are fairly inquired for at Is per dnz ; poultry w in somewhat better demand, and for fowls 3s bd per pair is readily obtainable ; ducks, 3s, 9d ; geese, 6s; and turkeys, 10s. Shipments of Sydney fruit to hand ex Tekapo came to a fairly good market, and lemons, apples, and pines realised extreme prices ; there was also fair inquiry fer oranges (unfortunately in bad order) and passion fruit. Hobart supplies landed yesterday in only fair condition, and plums, gages, and pears are being moved at satisfactory rates, taking quality into consideration. We note as an interesting fact that up to the present the only apples which have successfully passed the Customs officials re codlin moth are from Sydney ; in all from Melbourne have been condemned. .Local fruits have been well supplied, and prices on the whole are Arthur Warburton and Co. report for the week: —Banks—New Zealand, Lib 17s 6d; National, 343 ; Colonial, 41s ex div.
