Germany has quietly swept the market of Australian preserved meats, including all arrivals to date. (reuter’s telegrams.) Berlin, January 28. The Government have determined on the calling out of 72,000 of the reserves for the purpose of practice with the repeating rifle, with which the entire German army was recently equipped. Melbourne, February 1. Au order has been received in Melbourne for 1,000,000 pounds ot tinned beef The order has been placed in Rockhampton.
