Aorangi, from London, via Southern 1 ports, and the barque Marie, from New York, both with cargo for this port. Much of the cargo of the Marie is damaged with water to the loss of the consignees, and complaints are general as to the class of vessels chartered to - carry goods from the . Wine, beer, and spirits are unaltered iu price, and the demand is of the usual character. There have a good many transactions in fruit preparatory for Christmas. Currants are quoted at 5Jd to 5Jd ; elemes, sfd to 6Jd ; sultanas, 6d to 6-Id ; muscatels, Is 2d to Is 3d. Sugar is unaltered. Salt is also at the same rates as previously, the scarcity of < fine st-ill continuing. There is no improvement in candles, which are verylow in price. Tinned fish are still very high, owing to the scarcity in America ; Star lobsters are quoted at 9s 6d, and other brands at 8s 9d to 93 ; salmon sell at from 8s to 8s Gd, according to brand. There has been a further arrival of kerosene by the Marie, and over 5000 cases for Wellington are on board the H. J. Lilly, which left New York on October 16. The market was already greatly overstocked, and it will take a long time to work off what i 3 in store. Assorted nails are quoted at Ll 4 10s per ton. Corrugated iron has advanced in price, and is selling at Ll 7 15s. Fencing wire averages LlO 5s per ton.
