WOOL SALES.

Melbourne, December 10
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, held their usual weekly sale yesterday afternoon, offering a catalogue of 4328 bales, of which 3303 were sold, making a total for the week of 3651 bales. The attendance of buyers was large, and biddings were spirited. Prices realised were in sympathy with thosß realised at the London sales, greasy merino being Id lower, crossbred 1-d lower, washed fleece 2d lower, and scoured lid lower. The highest price realised for greasy wool was Hi<3, for scoured 18d, and for washed fleece 14|d.

The wool market continues dull. Up to the present date 83,000 bales have been offered at the colonial sales, of which 15,000 have been withdrawn.

The wool market continues dull. At to-day’s auction the catalogue comprised 9100 bales.
The New Zealand Loan and Mer cantile Agency Company have, rer ceived the following telegram from tbeir London office, dated 7th iust.:— Wool —-The following decline in prices may be quoted as having taken place since close of last sales, viz. Greasy merino, Id to lid per lb ; do do, new clip, id to Id per lb; clothing, washed, 2d to 2id ; combing, washed, 2d to 2id ; scoured, washed, 2|d to 3d ; fine greasy crossbred,ld to lid; coarsegreasy crossbred, id to Id; fine washed crossbred, Id to lid ; coarse washed crossbred, id to Id; fine scoured crossbred, lid to 2d; coarse scoured crossbred, Id. For lambs’ wool the market is unchanged. Competition on French account is sluggish, and there is much irregularity in the bidding. The total quantity catalogued to date is 59,000 bales, and 12,000 have been held over for future disposal. Wheat The market generally is better, and we think will continue improving. Victorianfis worth 36s 9d per 4961 b. New Zealand, average quality, 355; ditto, long-berried, 35s 6d. Tallow has been higher since we last telegraphed, but has since declined, and the mar ket is quiet. Good mutton is worth 28s per ewt; ditto beef, 245. Leather —Market unchanged. Frozen meat— Market sluggish. New Zealand mutton, weighing 601 b to 65ib, is worth 4d per lb. Messrs Bethune and Hunter have received the following telegram from Dalgety and Co. (Limited): —London, Bth.—Wool sales proceed with less spirit ; prices rather lower than at opening. Greasy fleece of new clip, of good quality and condition, is about the same. Scoured merino has declined fd to Id, and crossbreds in general to -ad. Tallow —Market very dull ; prices easier. We have to-day received the following cable message from our London House, Messrs Sanderson, Murray and Co., relative to the present state of the wool market:—“ London, lith. December. The market is now about equal to the lowest point touched in the 3rd serieß of sales.”
(UNITBD PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, December 9. The first wool sale of the season was held to-day, when the attendance of buyers was very good, including Home representatives. Notwithstanding the adverse reports of the progress of the London sales, competition for crossbreds was very good, and prices were up to expectations ; but for merinos the demand was weak, and prices (compared with crossbred) were much lower. Greasy crossbred medium brought 7d to 8d ; ditto, light, B£d to 10|d, the latter being for 31 bales from Glenledi; greasy long wool, 7d to 7£d ; merino, heavy, 6£d to 7d ; ditto, light, 7£d to B§i»
