FIRE IN AUCKLAND.

About 2 o’clock this morning a two-story wooden block of buildings in Symonds-street, consisting of two shops and dwellinghouses, was burned to the ground. The fire originated in a shop occupied by John McCarroil, linen draner, spreading to that of L. Spedding, woollen draper. All the inmates, including three little children, escaped safely. The total damage is over £ISOO, very little of the contents being saved. The buildings, which belonged to Mr Wright, confectioner, Queenware insured for £SOO in the South

British. McCarroll’s stock was insured for £7OO in the Norwich Union. Speddiog’s stock was uninsured.
