The most extraordinary takes of Balmon ever recorded have been made in the Dee at Connah's Quay, a few miles below Chester. The fish came up the river in hundreds, and the fishermen, who had been almost starving, were soon at work. At every ca3t fish were landed, and it is computed that salmon to the weight of two tons were captured and despatched to various centres.
