THE PREMIER ON THE UNEMPLOYED.
(united press association.) Dunedin, September 28.
A deputation from the City Council waited on the Premier to-day, regarding about 40 cf the unemployed, who were unable to proce ed to the country. The Premier said some of these men might be put on relief works, and others sent up the country. The men in Dunedin, Christchurch, and Auckland now seeking work, should be prepared to go into the country. As for works about the towns, the country settlers, who had lost by the floods, were more entitled to assistance than the towns.
