STOCK SALES.

Christchurch, Aug. 4._ The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report per Mr E. G. Staveley as follows: At Addington yards to-day there was a moderate entry of fat cattle. There was a fairly good demand but values were unchanged. Best heavy cattle brought L 8 to LlO, being 22s per hundred pounds ; light weights L 6 to L 7. Ten store cattle were nominal. There were about 5000 sheep yarded mostly of good quality. The attendance was small; the weather being very severe. Good cross-bred wethers brought 12s to 16s ; medium quality 8s to 103 ; merino wethers, prime, 9s to 12s ; ordinal y 4s to 6s, being If to 2|d per lb. There were no transactions in store sheep. There was a large supply of pigs, but the market was quiet. Best heavy baconers brought 35s and other sorts proportionately lower.

Sheep—best cross-bred; wethers brought Us 9d to 14s ; medium 8s 3d to 10s; merino wethers 6s 9d to 8s ; mutton l£d to 2d per lb. There_ were 177 pigs. Borkers brought 15s to 255; baconer 3 30s to 51s; stores 14s to 16s.
