She left Melbourne at 5.15 pm on the 6th inst, passed through Port Phillip Heads at 7.45 pm, and breasted Swan Island at 3 15 pm next day ; rounded Cape Pillar at 6.45 on the _Bth; reached Hobart wharf at 9 am ; left again at 5.15 pm, breasted the Solanders at 7 am on the 12th, arriving at Bluff at noon. Called at Dunedin and Lyttelton, leaving latter port at 6 45 pm on the 15th, and arrived here as stated. From Melbourne to Hobart she experienced fine weather ; from Hobart fine weather with heavy sea, lasting till the night of the 10th inst., when she encountered a heavy NE gale, accompanied by high seas and thick rain, continuing until arrival at Bluff ; from thence along coast experienced variable winds and moderate seas. The Waihora sailed at 5 pm for Auckland, via East Coast. The C.G.S. Stella returned from her trip to the Southern Lighthouses, at 3 o’clock on Sunday morning. The bargue Sophia R. Luhrs sailed on Saturday for Newcastle. The brig Wild Wave sailed for Kaipara on Saturday. From Kaipara she goes to Mercury Bay, where she will load 140,000 feet of timber, for Sydney. . , , The U.S.S. Co.s ss Grafton arrived from Westport at 11.45 am on Saturday, having left that port on Friday. She experienced fine weather, and passed the barque Onyx, from Lyttelton to Kimberley, going through the Straits with a fair wind. The Grafton sailed for South at 11 am on Sunday. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Penguin, arrived at 6.20 on Sunday morning from Nelson. She left Nelson at 9 pm on Saturday, She experienced fine weather during the passage. She sailed at 3 pm for Taranaki and Manakau,. taking the outward San Francisco mail, consisting of 235 bags, 62 of that number being from Wellington. „ _ , The U.S.S. Co’s ss Manapouri, from Sydney, via Auckland, Gisborne, and Napier, arrived here at 2.25 pm on Sunday. She left Sydney at 1 pm on the 9th ; passed the Three Kings at 3 am on the 13th, arriving at Auckland at 2 am on the 14th instant. Left again for South, calling at Gisborne on the 16th and Napier on the 17th. Left the latter port at 6.20 pm on same date, arriving as above. She experienced from Sydney to Auckland light variable winds. From Auckland and Gisborne fine weather; thence to arrival strong southerly winds. The Manapouri sailed on Monday for Melbourne, via Southern ports. The barque Glasgow has cleared at the Customs for Napier with part of her original cargo. She was towed away to an anchorage in the stream Monday night by the ps Colleen. Captain Jones, late of the U.S.S. Cos ss Takapuna, and chief officer of the same Company’s Taupo, has succeeded Captain Savory in command of the Brunner Coal Co’s ss Herald. . , The U.S.S. Co’s ss Hauroto left Sydney on Saturday afternoon for Wellington. She should arrive early this morning. The barque Examiner left Newcastle on the 9th for this port with a cargo of coal for the Brunner Coal Co. „ The Norwegian barquentine Vaering, which arrived off the Heads on Sunday, entered the harbor and berthed alongside the Queen’s Wharf on Tuesday afternoon. She left Newcastle on - Sunday, the 4th, and experienced calm weather for the first three days ; a strong ESE gale was then encountered, which lasted for three days, after which she met with moderate weather till arrival. The C.G.S. Stella left Opunake at 3 pm on Tuesday, and berthed alongside the Railway Wharf at 7.30 next morning. The C.G.S. Hinemoa left the Manakau at noon on Monday, New Plymouth at 12.39 pm Tuesday, and arrived off Opunake at 4pm same day ; landed 7 A.C.’s, and then came on to Wellington at 7.30, arriving here at 8.45 on Wednesday morning. The ketches Clematis- and Florence, the former for Endeavor Inlet, and the latter for Havelock, have cleared at the Customs. The Croydon Lass has cleared for Waitapu. ~ The U.S.S. Co’s ss Hawea arrived in port at 12.15 pm Wednesday from Southern ports. She left Port Chalmers at 5.30 pm on Monday, Lyttelton at 9.30 pm on Tuesday, and arrived here as stated. She experienced fine weather. The Hawea sailed at 7 o’clock on Wednesday night for Picton, Nelson, Taranaki and Manakau.

ARRIVAL OF THE R.M.S. AORANGI.

The N.Z.S. Co’s R.M.S. Aorangi, Commander W. A. Turpin, arrived in port and came to an anchorage in the bay at 7 o’clock on Saturday morning from London, via Plymouth, Madeira, Capetown, and Port Chalmers. She left the latter port at 5.30 am on Friday. After landing her passengers and mails for Wellington and West Coast, she proceeded on to Auckland, leaving at about 5 pm.
