LATEST CRICKET.
By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. THE AUSTRALIANS IN ENGLAND. (REUTER’S TELEGRAMS.) London, June 15. The cricket match Australians versus Lancashire was resumed to-day at Manchester. The weather was fine, but the wicket was much cut up owing to yesterday’s rain. The Australians, no wicket down for 60, continued their first innings, which closed for a total of 145. The highest scorers being : Jones, caught 54 Scott, leg-before-wicket 28 Trumble, bowled ... 11 Garrett, caught 22 For the Home team Watson bowled well, taking five wickets for 50 runs. The Lancashire men went in and were all disposed of for 46, Steel being the only player who reached double figures (21, caught). O. P. Lancashire was not out with 9. Being 99 runs behind, the Home team followed on, and when stumps were drawn they had scored 29 without the loss of a wicket. In the first innings of the Englishmen Giffen bowled successfully, taking six wickets for 20 run 3. The attendance at the match was good. June 16. The following team, to represent the players of England, has been selected for the match to take place at Nottingham on the 21st instant and two following days, against the Australian cricketers : Barlow (Lancashire), Briggs (Lancashire), Barnes (Notts), Flowers (Notts), Gunn (Notts), Lee (York), Maurice Read (Surrey), Scotton (Notts), Slier win (Notts), Shevvsbury (Notts), Ulyett (York).
