ASSAULTS ON THE POLICE.

Mr Carew, R.M., at the Police Court said, referring to tbe case in which he sentenced a prisoner to two months for breaking a constables leg, that he had overlooked a general provision of the Police Offences Act under which the prisoner might have been charged. As be had been practically sentenced *o seven months, he thought he was sufficiently punished.
