(bedtee’s telegrams.) Cairo, May 21. The representatives of France, Germany, Russia, and Austria have lodged a formal protest on behalf of their respective Governments against the proposed reduction in the rate of interest on a portion of the Egyptian debt, and it is understood that the decree authorising the reduction of the coupons will be withdrawn in consequence.
