AUSTRALIAN SUMMARY.
- o ■ (PER CLAUD HAMILTON AT HOKITIKA.) Melbourne, Dec. 27. There has been nothing but amusements and festivity for the last few days, and Melbourne has been crowded with visitors. The Canterbury cricketers were to have been received by a deputation from the-East Melbourne Club, but the Arawata" stuck on a mudbank, and did not arrive in town till the next morning. Cricket is being played everywhere. The pantomimes this year are not much good. The scenery is pretty, good but very little in the way of novelty.
