(REUTER'S SPECIAL TO PRESS AGENCY.) Sydney, December 28. The officers of the Seamen's Union urge the strikers to abstain from violence towards the 350 Chinese on their way to serve the company. Unless they abstain the officers will resign. An attempt has been made to shoot the captain and engineer of the company's steamer Watonga. The assailants are unknown. Noumean news has been received which states that a friendly tribe has killed and eaten a party of fifteen rebels. The schooner La Perouse, from Clarence to Lyttelton, foundered yesternight off Richmond bar. All hands were saved.
