BULLDOZER PACES FREELY BY ABAYDOS Bulldozer was responsible for a fine performance at Epsom yesterday, when he covered the last mile and a-quarter of two rounds in "55 Jack High and Captain Morant. who ran the last half-mile of their tasks in 1.7, shared the sprint honours. The trestles were out 4Sft on the course proper and the going was dead after rain. . Other pacers to work impressively were War Guard, liita Grattan, April Direct, Characteristic, Courier. Waiwera Jewel, Te laongauui, Claremorris, Cold Steel, GalJant Maia, Keewah, Sir Gaillard, Lady Bligh, vimy Ridge Svncopate and Hillcrest. Lan torn was the most* attractive of the straight-out trotters Steel King. Cockney, Jock McGrath and Echoist also gave good displays. Main interest was taken in the efforts of the Auckland Trotting Cup horses, of whom Betty Boop, Sea Born. Bulldozer, Parrish Lad,' Labour Day and Catalpa worked in good style. Lady Dawn, Worthy Cross and Black Label were not given serious tasks. Sea Born (C. King), ■Claremorris (C. Johnston) and Stargum (.G. A. Williams), were associated over a mile and a-half, finishing as named ill 3.42. Sea Born, who went lazily in the early,stages, paced the last mile in 2.21 and the last half-mile 11 1.8 4-5. Betty Boop (D. McKendry) finished better than Gallant Maid (R. Dunn) at the end of two miles in 4.58. Betty Boop, who looks reallv well, ran the last half-mile in 1.8. Black Label (A. W. Broughton), assisted by Paul Parrish (W. J. Wheeler) over the first mile and a-half, and by April Direct over the last mile and a-half, completed two miles in 5.0. the last half-mile in 1.10. April Direct, who finished well clear, ran 3.45, the last halfmile in 1.8, a good effort. Bulldozer (N. Berkett) went away from the six-furlong post, going two rounds at a smart pace. Timed for the last mile and a-quarter, he returned 2.55, which was first class under the conditions. Bulldozer finished well to run the last half-mile in 1.7 3-5. Echoist (L.
