LONG TOW ENDED
IHMKIjHT oil, BAIWK ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND Alter a tow ol about -! w <) miles, the I'nitcd States Army oil barge which drifted ashore 20 miles north of the Kaipara Heads early last, week was brought into the Auckland Harbour yesterday morning. The tow around North Cape to Auckland was accomplished by a Royal New Zealand Navyvessel which was accompanied by a United States Army Toft steel tug. The oil barge was moored near Steel Ships. Ltd., at Mechanics' Bay, and after painting and repairs will be sent overseas. The tow started about midday on Tuesday, shortly after the derelict barge had been pulled off the beach by a line which a New Zealand naval officer had swum ashore through heavy surf.
