JUMP FROM TRAIN
PRISONER ESCAPES INCIDENT NEAR PUKEKOHE Shortly after the Wellington-Auck-land express left Pukekohe early yesterday morning a prisoner who was being escorted by a prison warder from Wellington for'transfer to Auckland jumped from the train and escaped. He is Leslie Eric Smith, aged 30, who at one time lived at Pukekohe. There was another prisoner on the train and both men were in the charge of the one warder. The second prisoner did not attempt to escape. The police description of Smith, who was sentenced to a term of imprisonment in August last, is as follows: Height, sft B.Jin, medium build, fair complexion and hair, hlue eyes. He was wearing grey trousers, a grey overcoat and black shoes. A police search was begun as soon as the escape was notified, but there was no trace of the man at a late hour last night
