AUCKLAND EXCHANGE

EASIER TREND DEVELOPS Business was fairly active on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, but the market tone was easier and the majority of sales were made as a result of concessions by .sellers. Interest in Bank of New Zealand shares was less keen than on Monday and values fluctuated between 45s 3d and 45s (id, coinpared with 45s 9d the previous day. Government stocks were offered more freely and several sales were made at the equivalent of recent rates. Insurances continued to be dull and a parcel of New Zeal a ads was transferred Cd down at 86s 6d. CLOSING QUOTATIONS

UNITED INSURANCE COMPANY The accounts of the United Insurance Co. (Sydney) for the year ended September 30 show a net. profit of £00,275, compared with £'01,9115 last year and £00,809 in MM'..'. The directors recommend a final dividend of 4'A per cent, making 9 per cent for the year (unchanged), and, in addition, a bonus of 1 per cent. Dividends (interim and filial) and bonus require £15,000. An amount of £l,o.{>oo is to be added to general reserve and a similar sum is to be written off the premises account, leaving £12,99-1 to be carried forward, against £11,71!) brought in. NEW FACTORY PLANNED The management of Tekau Knitwear, a company operating at Ashburton, is making arrangements to open a factory at Tauranga. A new building is being erected and it is expected that the new establishment will operate about next March, the first consignment of machinery for the factory having already been despatched from Britain. SPRING CABBAGES A seasonal increase of '/ 3 d per ]b in the price of spring and pointed varieties of cabbages is notified in a recent price order. For these cabbages the ceiling price during November is -Id per lb in (he North Island. DIVIDENDS DECLARED Morris, Hedstrom, Ltd. (Fiji).—lnterim dividend ordinary shares, 4'/, per cent (unchanged).
