RUGBY FOOTBALL WINNERS OF COMPETITIONS A report on the game between the Auckland Colts and Thames pla.ved at Thames last Saturday was received last evening b.v the Auckland Rugby Union from Mr J. Sweeney, manager of the Colts team. Mr Sweeney said his team was outclassed on the day. Thames •winning by 38 points to 6. Playing against the wind, Thames ran up 20 points in the first spell, while Auckland failed to score. J McLean, former Auckland wing-three-quarter, who played for Services against New Zealand, was devastating, and his outstanding game was largely responsible for the Auckland debacle. THE LEAGUE CODE FINAL OF ROOPE ROOSTER Reference was made at last evening's meeting of the Auckland Rugby League to the resignation of Mr T Davis, a member of the hoard of control, and recognition of his services is to be made later. CHINESE CONCERT A concert to celebrate the National Day of China, which occurred on Tuesday, was held last night under the auspices of the Auckland Chinese Girls' Club in the Presbyterian Church, Cook Street There was a good attendance of both Chinese and Europeans. Directed by tho president of the club, Miss Sai Louie, the programme, which opened with the singing of the British and Chinese National Anthems, included Chinese music and songs and two plays, ono in English and the other in Chinese. An address on the significance of the Double Tenth anniversary was given by the Rev. V. S. Chau. During the evening, articles of handwork by members of the club were sold to raise funds for the relief of Chinese children orphaned , by Japanese aggression. J
