AUCKLAND EXCHANGE

N.Z. INSURANCE HIGHER The demand for Government stock was quieter on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday and two of the three sales were at lower prices. Otherwise the market maintained recent firmness. Quotations for Now Zealand Insurance continued to advance and buyers moved up to 91s, bringing in a seller at 2s 6d higher. A sale of Berlei (New Zealand) shares at 87s 6d showed a rise of 20s compared with the last local transaction a year ago. Further improvement was shown in Colonial Sugars and Woolworths (New Zealand).
