WESTFIELD DISPUTE
UNION CLOSES ACTION girls advised to return The dispute at the Westfield freezing works was officially terminated yesterday when at a lunch-hour meeting the employees decided that the union take no further action and that the 33 girls normally employed in the easing sheds who have been idle all this week be advised to return to work. Negotiations between the union and the management which have been in train for a few days were closed yesterday afternoon. The girls refused to carry on at their jobs on Friday of last week as a protest against a girl being returned by the management to the department. Representations were made to the company and on Wednesday a mass meeting of the employees decided to support the girls' request that the employee in question bo withdrawn from the department.
