WRESTLING BOUTS
CHALLENGE CONTEST BLOMFIELD BEATS KENNETH The Town Hall was filled on Saturday night when the Auckland Wrestling Association staged its second carnival of the season. The principal attraction was a heavy-weight professional challenge match between Lofty Blomfield and Ken Kenneth, both of Auckland. It resulted in a win for Blomfield by two falls to one. It was a bright and interesting contest in which Kenneth demonstrated that he had improved a lot since last year, and his display pleased his supporters immensely. Kenneth did most of the attacking in the first four rounds and he gained a fall in the second with a body press following slams and forward headlock throws. Blomfield evened in the fifth with a submission by means of his octopus clamp, and he finalised matters in the seventh with a standing shoulder press. The men took the ring at even weights, ISst 41b. Mr. J. McLean was referee. Prior to the commencement of the boot challenges were issued by two members of the United Nations Forces, Wes Crowther and Herby Walters.
