OPENING OF SEASON
GAMES FOR NEXT SATURDAY Matters in connection with the opening: of the season with a series of preliminary gameg next Saturday at Carlaw Park were discnssed at last evening-s meeting of the Auckland Rugby League. Doble considered it would be better to judge the teams' calibre on the field. An amalgamation of some of the clubs was necessary to open the competition. „ .. The chairman said this suggestion would receive every consideration once the trial games were commenced next Saturi"ay. Ar rangements were made for the interchange of players until the commencement of the Se The Junior Control Board advised that.the following officers had been appointed. Chair man 4 E. Chapman; deputy chairman, Mr C. Howe; secretary, Mr. w. i. OiarKe. Mr Chapman was appointed as delegate ,to the senior board. The Referees .Associa tion advised that Mr. M. Renton had been elected as deputy to Mr. P. Rogers on the Referees Appointments' Board. . ... In recognition of his being elected a lifemember, Mr. T. A McClymont wrote expressing appreciation of the honour and good wishes for a successful season. A motion of condolence was, passed with the relatives of Mr. G. A. Tyler, the well-known All Black, who died yesterday. The following fixtures were arranged for next Saturday:—Richmond v. Powonby. Carlaw Park No. 1, 3 p.m.. Mr. G. Ke.lly: iSewton v Mount Albert. Carlaw Park No. 1, 1.45 p.m.. Mr. E. Pope; City v■ Otahuhu. Carlaw Park No. 2. 3 p m., Mr J 0 Shanripssev; Maris! v. North Shore. Carlaw Park Xo 2. 1.40 p m.. Mr. A. Pearson.
