OBITUARY
MR. DONALD McKENZI E (0.C.) WHANGAREI, Wednesday One of the first white children born at Whangarei Heads, Mr. Donald McKenzie, has died at Whangarei, aged 81 years. His parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander McKenzie, were among the original Nova Scotian settlers at Whangarei Heads, where their homestead bay bears the family name. For 35 years" Mr. McKenzie was employed at the Limestone Island works and later at Taurikura lime kiln. He acquired a fine property at Ocean Beach, not far from his original home, and remained there until his retirement to Whangarei three years ago. In his youth he was a noted cricketer and game shot. He is survived by his wife, four sons, all in the Army, and three daughters.
