FOREIGN STUDENTS
THE ABOLITION OF FEES (0.C.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday In future, foreign students who are holders of students' permits will not be required to pay fees for attending at public primary schools, or for attending at post-primary schools if they are holders of free places. Advice to this effect was received by the Taranaki Education Board to-day from the Education Department. In accordance with the Immigration Restriction Act, 1930, foreign students, including Chinese pupils, who entered New Zealand under a student's permit or temporary permit were required to pay to the Government the cost of their education. Such fees no longer require to be paid. The department will not require, in future, any returns from head teachers in regard to _ Chinese pupils who are attending primary or postprimary schools.
