FATAL FALL
EVIDENCE AT INQUEST An inquest into the death of a rooftiler, Mr. Arthur Leonard Laurence, aged 36, married, of 35 Alberta Street, Point Chevalier, who suffered fatal injuries when he/fell through the roof of the building of John Burns, Limited, on March 7, was held by Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., coroner, yesterday. Mr. Laurence, who fell to the first floor, striking a guy rope on the way, died ' from his injuries'. on March 10. Evidence was given that deceased iff had remarked earlier in the day on the green and immature nature of the piece of roofing through which he later fell. A foreman of H. C. Clarke, Limited, bv whom Mr. Laurence was employed, had warned the men not to walk over the roofing unless planks had , been laid for the purpose. A verdict of death from injuries •uffered in the fall was returned.
