WAR RISK BONUSES
AUSTRALIAN SEAMEN SYDNEY, April 5 War risk bonuses of 33 1-3 per cent of their wages for merchant seamen on Australian articles when in waters north of Bundaberg, on the east coast, and Fremantle, on the west coast, and when trading between Australia and New Zealand and overseas, have been ordered by the chairman of the Maritime Industry Commission, Mr. Justice do Ban n. Seamen on vessels trading on the Australian coast south of the ports mentioned will receive a war risk bonus of 20 per cent Mr. Justice de Baun explained that the regulations were designed to bring merchant seamen operating in hazardous areas on the Australian coast into line with the seamen of overseas ships.
