DRUGS FOR E.P.S.
SUPPLIES AT WHANGAREI (0.C.), ■WHANGAREI, Monday Responsibility for supplies of drugs and other E.P.S. medical necessities has been a question of controversy between the Whangarei Hospital Board, the E.P.S., and the Health Department. According to a circular from the Minister for National Service, the Hon. R. Semple, received to-day, local bodies controlling emergency precautions were asked to proceed immediately with their organising activities on the understanding that any reasonable expenditure would be subsidised £2 for £l. Details of the approved expenditure were given. "This is the information we have sought for a long time," commented the board chairman, Mr. J. A. S. Mackay. "It clearly indicates that local authorities and not the Hospital Board are to provide equipment and drugs for the depots." Notice of motion was given to rescind a resolution that' the board supply the necessary medical requirements for depots in the county and borough.
