EMERGENCY WELLS
Sir —May 1 add to the statement of r! G. Cox on this subject. In my childhood days in Newton deep wells were common, being the only means other than tanks of procuring water. My father, the late David Grubb, conducted a large bakery business on the site of George Court's premises. We had a deep well in the middle of the bakehouse. The first post office was located in Hoyes' grocery store, situated between East Street and West Street. W. M. Kibkpatrick.
