ROTARY CLUB

MEETINGS RESUMED

An announcement that a cablegram had been sent to the Singapore Rotary Club was made by the president, Mr. A. G. Poison, at yesterday's luncheon of the Auckland Rotary Club, the first held after the holiday recess. Tributes were paid" to two members who had died since the last meeting, Mr. Kenneth Mackenzie and Mr. Frank Chapman. Mr: Poison said Mr. Mackenzie had been a charter member of the club and had served as president. He had left a fine record of effort for good causes, including university education. Mr. Chapman had been elected in the year after the club's formation and his loss was much regretted. The sympathy of the club was conveyed to the relatives, and to Mr. F. A. Hellaby, a member, on the death of his wife. - Mr. J. T. Martin, a member of the Wellington club, was welcomed as a visitor. The speaker of the day was the Mayor and Chief Warden. Mr. J. A. C. Allum, who spoke on the Emergency Precautions Service.
