HARBOUR FATALITY

FALL FROM LAUNCH YOUNG MAN DROWNED A young Aucklander fell from a launch off Westhaven yesterday afternoon and was drowned. He was: —

Mr. Morgan. Jackson, aged 21, single, a hatter, of 35 Ceorgina Street, Ponsonby.

Mr. Jackson, with Mr. John Elliott, owner of the launch Kitty, was travelling back to Heme Bay after a cruise when he fell overboard about 4 p.m. It is believed that as he fell his head struck the dinghy, which was being towed close to the launch, and that he lost consciousness and sank. A search of the area by dinghy was made for several hours by Mr. Elliott, who finally went ashoro and communicated with the police, who also engaged in the search. When darkness was falling, hopes of finding Mr. Jackson were abandoned.
