Pearson, master marinerj well known on the New Zealand coast, lost his life. Official information is .not yet. available, but it is stated that the accident.occurred while Lieutenant Pearson was transferring from one ship to another. He was crushed between the two vessels. Lieutenant Pearson was born in England about 58 years ago. He came to New Zealand in 1912 as chief officer on the Opouri. Six months after his arrival he was appointed master of the vessel, later transferring to the Orepuki. Later he transferred to the Anchor Company, Nelson. During the period he served the Anchor Company he commanded several of its vessels.
