Main Street Burned Down. —A fire at Seward, Alaska, destroyed both sides of the main' business thoroughfare. The loss is estimated at 1,000,000 dollars. Raider : Shot Down.—One enemy raider was destroyed over Britain on Monday night, when bombs were dropped on a Thames Kstuary town. There were some casualties. ' Spaniards for Germany.—The first group of 570 Spanish workers who are to be drafted into German industry have left Madrid. Additional parties will leave until a total of 4560 is reached. Prince as Pilot.—Prince Marmid, '22-year-old son of the late Sultan and brother of the present Sultan Tregganau of the Malay States, has been accepted by the Royal Air Force for training as a pilot. Massacre oi Jews.—lt, is reported that Rumanian soldiers have massacred many hundreds of Jews in Odessa, which for so long held its attackers at bay. The massacre was said to be a reprisal for a time bomb which exploded at Rumanian headquarters at Odessa. Progress in Abyssinia.-~A Nairobi communique states: "Our forces are closing in round Gondar (Abyssinia), and enemy positions at Azoza, south of the town, are now under our artillery fire. A sortie from Gondar was surrounded. A hundred Italians were killed and their commander, LieutenantColonel Cessanni, was captured."
