BIBLE SOCIETY
The annual meeting of the Auckland auxiliary of the British and (Foreign Bible Society was held last night. The report of the secretary and treasurer showed that the past year had been a most successful one, well over £4OOO having been contributed toward the work. The Rev. James Gray spoke of the effect the distribution of scriptures in the various Indian dialects was having on the literacy movement among the people of India. The Rev. David Calder drew attention to the co-opera-tion between the British. American and foreign bible societies. The meeting was presided over by Mr. R. L. Stewart.
