FIRE ON A LAUNCH

CABIN AND GEAR DAMAGED [by TELEGItAPIf —PRESS ASSOCIATION] NEW PLYMOUTH, Monday Extensive damage was done by lire early this morning to the launch Reliance 11., which was doing temporary service as a pilot launch for the New Plymouth Harbour Board. The Reliance is a 38ft. by 10ft. beam Dieseldriven launch owned by Mr. J. Crabtree, of Eltham, and operated by Mr. W. Growcott, of Moturoa. It is considered one of the best at New Plymouth and is valued at about £6OO. The launch was out on a fishing trip yesterday and everything appeared in order when it was tied up at the berth usually occupied by the pilot launch. After the fire, the can so of which has not been discovered, the cabin was found to be burned out and all the fishing gear destroyed.
