RAIN ABOVE AVERAGE South-westerly winds which have prevailed throughout the week have been accompanied by unfavourable weather and heavy rain squalls. With more than two months of tho vear remaining the total rainfall since the beginning of January up to nine o'clock yesterday morning was 41.21 in. The average annual rainfall for the last 85 years is 4L74in. The rainfall for the 21 hours ended at midnight last night, i according to tho Herald gauge, was TOiu.
