EMERGENCY PLANT
LIBRARY AND BRANCHES A decision to provide emergency equipment at the central library and at the branch libraries was made by the City Council last night. The plant will include sand equipment, bucket pumps, and, in the case of the central library, hvdraulic reels and several water supply points. The cost at the main library aiid art gallery will be £lB9, and at each of the "eight- branch libraries £'9 os. Consideration was also given to possible measures to protect the public from falling glass from the large glass roofs in the Art Gallery, but as small mesh netting wire, required for a screen beneath the glass, is not obtainable, it was decided to take no action 111 this matter.
