WIDOW'S ANNUITY

COURT APPROVES INCREASE SONS' ACTION COMMENDED (0.0.) HAMILTON, Thursday An application for an increase in an allowance to a widow, .Mrs. K. Magill (Mr. J. K. Lusk), of Tauranga, under the Familv Protection Act was heard to-day before the Chief Justice, Sir Michael M vers. Hugh Magill died in October. 1039. leaving an estate sworn at £32,000. Provision in the will was made for the willow for the free use of the house and an annuity of £-1 a week, which was charged against certain lands devised to two of her sons, Patrick Henry and John Joseph Magill (Mr. N. S. Johnson). The trustees were represented by Mr. G. Gilchrist, and Mr. A. L. Tompkins appeared for a daughter. Mrs. Catherine Cruikshank. The two sons recognised that owing to the advanced age and failing health Oi' the applicant the provision made for her was insufficient and voluntarily agreed to an increase in the annuity to £8 a week. In approving the application, His Honor remarked that the two sons had acted very honourably and had shown a filial spirit to their mother.
