PROSPECTS DISCUSSED OCTOBER HANDICAP ENTRY GOOD RESULTS ANTICIPATED (0.C.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday Racegoers here are prepared to see Riccarton horses collect a good portion of prize-money at Trentham. Throughout last season and at many previous meetings there were very few winners at Wellington from the South Island, but there is every reason to expect better results on this occasion. Night Dress, in the Glen Hurdles, should be a worthy representative. He has made marked improvement as a jumper aud is a proved 'stayer. There will be much useful material in the Rimutaka Hndicap to interest southern visitors. In addition to Wild Fox, Atreus. Scottish Dale and Willow Wood trom Riccarton, also engaged are Green Gables, Egyptian Roso and Dash o' Dublin from South Canterbury. Wild Fox will probably be reserved for the October Handicap. Atrous, who is in the second division, has shown improving form in the past few weeks. Scottish Dale should possess bright prospecte. She is a high-class fiU.v and is improving all the time. Willow \Vood ran well at Washdyke and that race will have done him good. Haughty Winner. Wild Talk and Monetary are in (lie Wainui Handicap, but the lastnamed will probably bo reserved for the Shorts Handicap. Haughty Winner has run his best races at Trentham, but his form for some time past has been below that standard. Wild Talk won at mile and ii-quarter in her last start. She also has won at Trentham and her chanco to-morrow will bo seriously considered. Recollection is the only Riccarton-trained representative in tho Churchill Steeplechase. He has yet to complete a cross-country course, but no fault could be found with his recent schooling. The stable matos. Wardress and Dictate, will contest tho Wellington Handicap. Tho former is better now than at any time previously. Although without recent racing, she is capable of making a bold showing, but Dictate does not appeal. If Monetary is reserved for the Shorts Handicap, lie will be the only Riccarton galloper in the race. A repetition of his Flying Handicap form at Timarti will make him dangerous. Scarteen, Wild Fox, Parchment, Ackemma, Salutation. Bascule, My raid and Renarde are in the October Handicap. Salutation ought to be worthy of special attention, as she is handily placed at 7.12 and an apprentice allowance will bring her weight down to 7.5. HORSES FOR GREYMOUTH The Epsom horses Handicapper and Franco left on Tuesday for Greymoutb where they arc engaged on Saturday and Monday. Both pacers are well forward and should race prominently, although the small dirt track may hamper Handicapper. After racing at Grevmouth Franco and Handicapper will compete at Hutt Park on November 1. Consequently Phar Lap and Night march are not related.
