HAWKE'S BAY TEAM

TRENTHAM CONTINGENT STRONG REPRESENTATION ONE CONTEST FOR CELEBRITY (0.C.) HASTINGS, Wednesday llawke s Bay will be represented at the Wellington spring meeting by 36 horses, most of whom are already at Trentham. The majority departed in forward racing condition. The Ngatarawa trainer ,T. H. Jefferd had the largest team, comprising Rakahanga Poutatau, Gay Genet, Enthrall and Celebrity' Ho decided not to take Blandisher, who may later be sent to Riccarton. Rakahanga seems to be at the peak of her form, but in the Wainui Handicap she will be facing tho severest test of her career. However, she has won over seven furlongs. Poutatau will race on the second and third days, but the English mare Celebrity is engaged only in tho Trial Stakes on Saturday. Gay Oonot- is expected to run out a middle distance, and her racing at Hastings should benefit her considerably. Enthrall has won in her only attempt to date. This filly is to contest the two-year-old events on Saturday and Monday. Lanibourn, Vin d'Honneur, Burma and Aqueduct comprised the team of C. J. Stowo. Lambourn looks a picture of health. Ho is carrying more flesh and bloom than ever previously. Vin d'Honneur's prospects at the meeting appear to bo very bright. The Wellington Guineas is Aqueduct's only engagement at tho meeting. G. VV. Greene has four representatives in Black Majesty. Greek Dancer, Stella Lux and Dozio Boy. The last-named, with P. Burgess in the saddle, is considered to be the best- of the district quartette of cross-country horses making the trip. .1. Ryan will be represented by Theatre. Palora and Fescue. Theatre is a smart hack sprinter, preferring firm going. Palora was second to Travancore in the Hastings Stakes, so she is expected to perform prominently in the minor two-year-olu races, in which she will be bracketed with Fescue. Centrepoise, who pulled up lame after contesting the Ling Memorial Handicap at Otaki. has returned home and will not race at Trentham. LATEST SCRATCHINGS HEAVY WITHDRAWALS (0.C.)
