TRAMWAY INTERESTS

PROPOSED DOMINION BODY A proposed conference to consider the establishment of a Dominion tramway association was discussed at a meeting of the Auckland Transport Board. It was reported that the tramway authorities in the four main centres favoured the conference, and it was decided to recommend a meeting in Wellington on November 17. The chairman, Mr. J. Sayegh, and Mr. W. H. Nagle were appointed the board's delegates. Regret that the board proposed resigning from the Municipal Association of New Zealand was expressed in a letter from the association's secretary. The chairman said no decision had yet been reached in this matter. Mr. Xagle pointed out that resignation had been considered not because the board had been badly treated by the association but because it was felt the board would be better served by its own organisation. It was decided to postpone consideration of the board's representation at the 1942 municipal conference until after the proposed tramway conference.
