Roxy and Tivoli Theatres.^-Follow-ing his recent successes in "South of the Border" and "Rancho Grande," Gene Autry has the leading role in the Republic Pictures production "Gaucho Serenade," which will head the doublefeature programme at the Roxy and Tivoli Theatres to-day. The story is quite a strong one and never ceases to hold the attention. Michael Willoughby, an English boy in school abroad, receives a message from his father in America to join him at once. Michael believes that his father is the owner of a vast property known as the Ranch San Quentin, a name which his father has invented to keep from his son the knowledge that he is in prison, the innocent victim of a false embezzlement charge. The message has actually come from the real culprits, Martin and Blake, who plan to kidnap the boy and to use his safety as a threat against his father, _who is about to give testimony that will clear himself and convict them. Michael arrives in America, but by an accident joins two roving cowboys, Gene and Frog. With them he travels westward, only to be trailed by Martin and Blake. Meanwhile Michael's father escapes from prison. In the man hunt that follows, Martin and Blake plan to take advantage of the "shoot to kill* or^ e From here the story leads to a brilliant climax.
