OBITUARY

MR. D. G. COLE The death has occurred of Mr. David Graeme Cole, aged 77, of Onehunga. Mr. Cole was born at Clones, Ulster, and when 17 years ol age reached Auckland bv the ship Hermione and settled at Mangapai with relatives who had arrived there in 1859. He subsequently established a business at Mangapai, which he successfully conducted for 22 years, during which time he took a prominent part in founding the first co-operative creamery north of Auckland. For the last years Mr. Cole had lived in Onehunga, where lie took an active interest in social service organisations and was for many years the senior elder of the Onehunga Presbyterian Church. He married in IS9O. His wife died 12 years ago. He is survived by two sons and a daughter. MR. D. M. SHEARMAN The death occurred in the Whangarei Hospital on Sunday, of Mr. Desmond Martyn Shearman, chief engineer of the Northern Steamship Company's motor-vessel Paroto, at the age of 37 years. He was employed by the Northern Company lor several years. Mr. Shearman, whose home was at 35 Ardmore Road, Heme Bay, is survived by his wife and son. His funeral took place yesterday. MR. R. NIELSEN (0.C.) HAMILTON, Tuesday The death has occurred at Frankton of Mr. Rasmus Nielsen, aged 86. Born in Denmark, Mr. Nielsen came to New Zealand 66 years ago in a sailing vessel. He farmed in the Rangitikei and the King Country districts, and for the last seven years had lived at Hamilton. Mr. Nielsen is survived by two sons and two daughters.
