VICE-REGAL VISIT
MASSEY COLLEGE ADDRESS [bt telegraph—press association-] PALMER STON NORTH. Tuesday Tlie Governor-Genera], Sir Cyril Newall, anr] Lady News.ll paid their first visit to Massey College to-day, returning to Wellington this afternoon.
In an address to the students and staff, Sir Cyril pointed out the importance of agriculture research, especially in these times, in order to meet chang-: ing requirements -of Britain. As far as New Zealand and Australia were concerned, they neverbefore in their histories had been faced s; with a situation such as might even-* tuate at any moment. Sir Cyril stated, - but the Empire had been up against it * before and would not go down easily/ The example set by Londoners could ■ not be defeated. "You cannot blow up pluck and tradition," he added. "That spirit runs throughout the Empire. - and it behoves us to strive continuouslj with bold hearts toward one purpose—furthering the, war effort." -
