GARDENS AND ORCHARDS CROMWELL EXPERIENCE (0.C.) DUNEDIN, Monda7_ The most severe frost experienced ia the Cromwell district at this season f«r many years past occurred on Friday night, when 12 degrees were recorded. There had been one or two frosts prior to this, but none of such severity, lor kitchen gardens it was a disastrous visitation, early potatoes and beans M most instances being practically wiped out. , Orchardists were the principal sufferers. however, and at Kipponvals there was considerable damage to stone fruit and apple crops. Orchards in other localities also suffered damage, the extent of which will not be known for a few days. In the Clyde district a good save was effected by the use of fire pots.
