STEPS TOWARD INQUIRY

An assurance that an inquiry would he held into the recent fire at the premises of John Burns and Company, Limited, was contained in a letter from the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board received at a meeting of the council of the Auckland Manufacturers'jAssociat ion yesterday. The secretary of the board said he had heen advised hy the hoard's solicitors that a suggested order of reference had heen prepared, and when the appointment of Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., as a commission was confirmed and a fixture made, this woidd he gazetted and the inquiry would proceed.
