CLUB COMPETITIONS MATCH PLAY AT MIDDLEMORE The final of the Auckland Golf Club's senior match-play competition, played over 36 holes at Middlemore on Saturday, was won by B. H. Menzies, who defeated C. NJacobsen. 5 and 4. Menzies was 5 up after the morning round, in which he recorded 73. In the afternoon round he won the first three holes to make him 8 up. He lost the fourth, won the fifth, and halved the sixth in fours. Jacobsen won the seventh with a three-foot putt for a two. The eighth was halved in fours, Jacobsen took the nintji in 5. The next was halved, Jacobsen taking the 11th. The 12th, 13th and 14th were halved, Menzies winning, 5 and 4. The finals in the other divisions resulted:— Intermediate: D. B. Armstrong beat T. E. Clark, 2 and 1. Junior: H. W. Hotson beat M. H. Yock, 4 and 3.
A Stableford competition resulted.-—D. Lawford, 35; J. P. Aldred, 3-4; H. C. Luseombe, 33; W. S. G. Paton, 32; P. P. Worley, 80. Pupuke.—A Stableford bogey scramble resulted in a tie between G. Drought and W. O. Worrall. each 30. Drought won on the count back. In the semi-finals of the captain's prize G. Drought beat C. H. Palmer, 1 up, and E. A. Carson beat R. S. King. 2 and 1. Results in the Pupuke Cup event were:—First round: L. H. Saunders beat T. E. Gooding. 1 up. Second round: L. H. Saunders beat W. O. Worrall, 1 up; W. G. Thompson beat E. A. Carson, 1 up; R. S. King beat A. R. Smith, 2 and 1. A Stableford bogey was won by L. H. Saunders (12), 38.
Titirangi.—Following were the best cards in a four-ball bogey:—R. G. Tappenden and F. W. Lucas, 7, up; R. J. Xieholl and B. T. Burgess, 4 up; A. X. Young and R. E. Fawcett, C. J. Bunting and F. A. Brown, 3 up; R. B. Carr and L. E. R. Wakeman, 2 up.
Maungakiekie.—A Stableford bogey competition played in two grades resulted:—A grade: W. R. Teape, 31, 5—36; C. Jarman, 29, -1 —33; T. X. Pemberton, 25, 8 —33; C. M. Beekley, 21, 9—33. B grade: L. J. Poff, 19, 14—33; T. A. O'Brien, 16, 17—33; I. J. Hutchinson, is, 11 —32; F. Walker, IS, 1-1—32; J. Bishop, 20, 12—32; W. X. Asinuss, IS, 13 —32; H. W. Morton, IS, 14—32. Poff won on the countback.
Akarana.—ln a Stableford bogey compete tion the best card returned was by M. G. Fort (11) with a 36. The next best scores were:—ll. P. Cullen (4), 35; J. D. Lewis (S), 133; J. Gregory (10), 33; X. Johnston (13), 33; L. R. Allen (16), 33; C. Wiggins (9), 32; D. Coyle (2). 31. North Shore.—Jubilee Cup (first round): J. H. Robertson beat J. H. Dupin, 3 and 2; R. T. Philson beat E. H. Foot. 7 and 0; R. X. White beat J. S. Holloway, 5 and 4; H. G. Keane beat H. P. Ibbertson, 4 and 3; 11. Charlesworth beat E. R. Cockayne. 3 and 2; A. J. Weir beat H. Corbett, 2 up; B. E. (joldwater beat R. X. Swanston, 3 and 1. Remuera.—The president's trophy medal round was played and the following were the results:—W. Kilgour, S4. 31—73; R. R Hardley, 91, 18—73; W. Somervell. S2, 0—73. Kilgour won on the countback.
Orakei.—A Stableford bogey in two grades resulted:—Seniors: S. Chappell, 38; f. Edwards, 30; D. Munro, 32; X. Willis, iH. V. Robertson, 31. Juniors: W. Turbott, 35; K. Smith, 3-1; M. Turbott, P. Reeves, 31.
Otahuhu.—A bogey competition resulted:— J. Walker, 1 up; W. B. Eustace. E. B. Waters, A. P. Eustace, 2 down. The fifth round of the Wade Cup (six rounds net) was also played and the best cards were:—J. Harris, 82. 9—73; S. X. Gleeson, 94. 17 —77; W. J. Melhuish. 91. 1-1—77. Manukati,—The president's trophy competition was completed, the results being:—Semifinals: M. M. Dudley beat 13. Moore, 3 and 1; J.J. Rogers beat J. Cameron, 2 and 1. Final: Rogers beat Dudley, 4 and 3.
North Shore Ladies.—Following were the best cards returned in a Stableford bogey match played by week-end members on Saturday: Mrs. if. Holloway, 32; Miss L. Blair, 20; Miss X. Burgess, 18.
